Like any team sport "winning" is about helping each other player be their best, support is fundamental and in this way you shine and your team shines. If your focus is all about you "looking good" your not connected to the thoughts, ideas or actions of your team, your paying more attention to yourself, the audience and not the scene or your team players. This disconnection will create the very struggle your trying to avoid.
Listening is very important, if you are trying too hard and disconnecting with the team, realize you have stopped listening to what is being "offered" and are no longer "supporting". Go back to the basics, Listen and "Yes and", become a part of the team piece again.
Cheers Jamie
Learn to Laugh...Laugh to Learn :DJamiehttp://www.TheFunPro.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3469428369719553251.post-30055916420424814062010-03-03T23:02:11.649-07:002010-03-03T23:02:11.649-07:00Thanks for the compliment, and thanks for reading!...Thanks for the compliment, and thanks for reading! I just wrote a post about getting unstuck, and I hope it helps. It definitely takes time, as improv is way different than most skills we try to learn. In the next couple of weeks, I'll also do a post that talks about specific exercises that help get rid of that stuck feeling in teams...DLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15646009051818839550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3469428369719553251.post-66815408155230793512010-02-27T16:54:08.667-07:002010-02-27T16:54:08.667-07:00"You're never stuck; keep going"

I've just literally JUST started improv classes - and when I'm stuck, no matter how much I want to keep going - the very definition of being stuck means that you cant keep going! It's like a brain freeze moment - no information there to access.. and everyone looks on in agony! ugh. Stupid brain. Trying to find ways to overcome this.. any tips will be SUPER welcome :)

and great blog - thanks for sharing all this :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3469428369719553251.post-82643498552255141412008-05-29T11:34:00.000-06:002008-05-29T11:34:00.000-06:00Glad to have you on board Wendy. I'm realizing how much I need this group...not to get all gushy, but there is an idea in improv that used to be a part of my life that I feel like life and experience has made me jaded toward. I am a recovering control freak and I am excited for this journey of learning how to let go and enjoy the ride...thanks for letting me be your "grasshoppa"~WendyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
